Cool bar on the water. Loved the vibe. They were super accommodating top our large group. Good selection of drinks. Good burger too

What is there to say about Captain Lou's that hasn't already been said? The fish is incredible. Lightly battered, flaky and dreamy. Literally. I think about the fish about once a week. I've never had fish so good. I got the cajun version which was the perfect amount of heat, offset by the creamy tartar sauce. I never knew tartar sauce could taste like that! Creamy and zesty and, again, dreamy. I think about the tartar just as much as the fish, honestly. It's worth every penny.The location is a bit cramped but that's part of the charm, honestly. If you're in South Haven don't miss Captain Lou's.

Waitress is rude. Overcharged for margarita.

OMG! Our first time here and sooo good! Bloody Marys are supreme and the Perch sandwich was to die for!

Nice place to eat and take a drink

Tons of charm. Great location right on the water. I believe they close for the winter because we went on Oct 12th and they were out of a half the menu items. The food they did have was good. Service was good.

Captain Lou's is an amazing bar & grill right on the riverfront in South Haven. It also has an amazing location, right next to the Dyckman Avenue drawbridge and the Maritime Museum. The food was delicious, and the servers were very kind. The burgers here are freaking huge! And what was truly unique about this restaurant was the fact that little dinghies can go right to the pier in front of the restaurant and order takeout. Sorry Captain Nemo's, we're cheating on you - with a Captain named Lou.

Let me start by saying they have zero Covid 19 precautions for staff or guest. No staff wear mask, no one washes hands, they give you dirty plastic reusable menus along with ketchup bottles. The towel they "Sanitize" your table with is thrown into a bucket on the floor where the towel mostly lands on thefthe and not the bucket. Service was awful, took 25 min to get an appetizer after asking where it was. We waited so long for our dinner we told them not to even bring it and just put it in a box. If my kids were not so hungry I would of just left. I wish when I saw the initial sight of no Covid 19 precautions i would of just left. No comp on our tab for service we received. My advice don't go.

Food is great but if you sit away from the water the kitchen grease smell is pretty overwhelming. Great perch

It's a cute little place. There is not really an "inside" as it all appears to be open air, which is fine as long as it's not hot. A lot of perch options. Being next to the drawbridge is fun. Not really a parking area, had to park on a nearby side street. They don't have straws, but they use plastic cups and cutlery, so that seems a little beside the point. It has a lot of character and I'm sure it is a blast in the evenings.

They did Covid-19 care appropriately. Staff was great as were the Perch and burgers. We'll make Cap'n Lou's a habit - if you're in South Haven, MI - you should too!!

Great good. Get the perch and make it Cajun if you can handle the bite.

This is a fun place. Tucked in beside the drawbridge and the black river. It offers lots of yummy bar food, beers and drinks. We bring our ten year old son during the day because they have a kids menu. Seating is seat yourself. The wait staff were all really nice to us.

As usual food is great. Scenery is awsome sit outside and enjoy the views.

Disappointed by their response to Covid, or lack there of. There is an obnoxious, ignorant sign when you enter stating that if someone isn’t wearing a mask then they will assume it’s for medical reasons (we all know what happens when you assume). I was there to pick up a takeout order, otherwise I would have immediately left. None of the bartenders were wearing masks- do they only hire staff with medical conditions? The perch I rate a 5. Get it from Clementine’s next time. I’ll never be back.

Best service ever! Ashley our waitress was so fun and she did a great job! Best perch dinner anywhere! Plus the Tito’s and pink lemonade are always good! Great place to eat and have a drink! Thanks again to our waitress Ashley! We will definitely request her the next time we are there.

This is the premier bar in South Haven. No doubt. Good service and lively atmosphere. You will not be dismayed in a trip across the bridge.

WOW what a fun place to be! Day and night this place I bumping with music and drinks. A fair warning that most of this place is outside and there are only a few tables inside.

The atmosphere is very laid back and cool. We sit outside during the summer and it's fun to watch the boats and the bridge just in front of it. A nice place to build summer memories. The food is good and I like all the beer options available.

I will say upfront that my review may be a little biased in giving Captain Lou's 5 stars. Though I suspect many people, and I would be one of them, will tell you that this is an institution in South Haven. A member of my family would tell you they have the best fish tacos you will find just about anywhere. I would tell you that the buffalo wings are surprisingly good, as is just about everything else I've tried on the menu. On top of this, the prices are reasonable, the service has always been good, the have love entertainment several evenings and you can sit right by the harbor.

Place was packed but we were really lucky to snag a table as someone was leaving as we walked in. The jalapeno poppers were 🔥🔥🔥 but damn good and I can't wait to come back to have their cajun perch dinner again.2020 Edit: came back to show new people the Cajun Perch and it was still super awesome. Even got the same nice server as last year!

It’s a great location and the staff was wonderful. However, stick with the beer. Spent $30 for 3 drinks, and convinced they put no alcohol in them.

Friendly Servers that work together for a great experience. Server's here do not hide or say sorry that's not my table and that is refreshing!Good food & great atmosphere along the water.

Captain Lou's is partly open air bar used to be people could drive up on their boat and go in Father sometimes have live music and it is the only bar in town that stays open till 2 a.m.

Súper Understaffed, Overpriced, and had no precautions for the horrendous bugs.

Nice place! Love sitting by the water watching the boats go by! The servers where not to friendly and ours never came back to ask us what we wanted. I had to get another servers attention for our order to be taken. We ordered a split Black River burger! It was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time!!!

Called them to ask if they were doing to go and the person who answered said yes. Asked if I could get my family’s order and call back in 5 minutes and was also told yes. Gave them a call with the order 5 minutes later and was told they were not doing to go and instantly hung up on.

Good food! Great singer! Fun place

Nice place but no organization in seating. Told to wait on line below, seems like it is a free for all who grabs the empty table first. Enjoyed the Perch.
